Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AB Renovations is a design-build renovation contractor operating in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. We are a home-based service-area business, so we do not publish a street address. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page, and we handle it in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

2. What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us. There is one form on this site — the free estimate request — and it asks for:

• your name;
• your phone number and email address;
• the type of project and the city it is in;
• anything you write in the optional project description.

If you phone or email us instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that conversation.

Like almost every website, the server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs — IP address, browser type, the pages requested and when. These are used to keep the site running and secure, not to build a profile of you.

3. Why we collect it, and who sees it

We use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and — if you go ahead — to plan and carry out the work. We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

A small number of service providers necessarily handle it on our behalf: our website host, our email provider, and the service that delivers the estimate form to our inbox. Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed in another country and be subject to the laws there. We share only what those providers need in order to do their job.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

4. Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no session tracking, so there is nothing for you to opt out of and no consent banner to click.

The site does load fonts and styling from Google and from a public code network (CDN). Loading those files reveals your IP address to those providers, as it would on any site that uses them. If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this page before doing so.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept for up to two years, in case you come back to us. Records relating to work we actually carried out are kept longer — we need them for our two-year workmanship warranty, and tax and insurance rules require us to retain business records for several years.

6. Photographs of your project

We photograph our work, and we may want to show your project in our gallery or on social media. We will ask you first. Published photos never include your name, your address, or anything that identifies where you live — we describe projects by neighbourhood at most. You can ask us to take a photo down at any time.

7. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information: access is limited to the two owners of the business, accounts are password-protected, and the site is served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not keep information we no longer need.

8. Your rights

Under BC privacy law you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, and withdraw your consent to us holding it. Email or phone us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a routine request.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
